Description On March 6th, Julieta Venegas recorded her MTV Unplugged at the Churubusco Studies in Mexico City, where she presented new songs besides interpreting some of her greatest hits in an intimate atmosphere to a live audience. This production counts on important and interesting collaborations like two time Oscar winner, Gustavo Santaolalla, who accompanied her with the banjo and sang the chorus of the song "Algun Dia (Someday)". Brazilian singer, Marisa Monte featured in song "Illusion", a new and beautiful song that combines the Spanish and Portuguese language. Also Mala Rodriguez joined Julieta and included a strong hip hop movement to the song "Eres Para Mi (You are for Me)", whereas the vocalist of Porter, Juan Carlos had a unique participation in "Algun Dia (Someday)". In addition, the very talented Natalia Lafourcade comprised of the orchestra and played several instruments during the night, whereas the talented musician and composer, Jacques Morelenbaum accompanied Julieta on the cello in "De mis Pasos (From my foot steps)". DVD Track List: 1.Limon y Sal 2.Seria Feliz 3.El Presenta - Inedita 4.Algo esta cambiando 5.Eres para Mi - A dueto con la Mala Rodriguez 6.Esta Vez 7.Algun dia- Inedita con la participacion de Gustavo Santaolalla 8.Mirame bien 9.Lento 10.De mis pasos 11.Andar conmigo 12.Ilusion - Inedita A dueto con Marisa Monte 13.Como se 14.Mira la vida- Inedita 15.Me Voy Making of
People en Espanol There?s no doubt that Julieta Venegas is talented in the recording studio. Three great albums have proved her originality (Aqui,, Bueninvento, Si) and the demand for her music (Limon y Sal sold a million copies). But on stage, Venegas doesn?t exude much energy or passion, so making a live album was risky for her career. On the other hand, like Alanis Morissette, Venegas was born to sing in small and intimate acoustic concert venues, and away from the masses, she knows how to create the magic one can find in her albums. On MTV Unpluggged, Venegas invites performers like Natalia Lafourcade, La Mala Rodriguez, Marisa Monte, and Juan Son to recreate new versions of her greatest hits that result in fresh and exciting collaborations. It?s a great musical montage of her practically perfect career. --Ernesto Sanchez (People en Espanol )

Usual Julieta, Fun Spin! August 8, 2008 Julieta collaborates with an interesting mix of artists; La Mala Rodriguez, Juan Son and Natalia Lafourcade, to name a few. The entire concert is a fun spin on her popular songs, old favorites and even some new material. The tuba is great! I need more TUBA!! This DVD is definitely worth a look. Check it out.
Is it possible for her to get any better? August 4, 2008 Ever since her excellent first U.S. release, "Aqui," Julieta Venegas has done nothing but improve in every way. With each release, her song writing, arrangements, and delivery have matured, to the point where one wonders if it possible for her to get any better. With her most recent previous release, "Limon y Sal," Venegas proved that popular music (in any language) can actually be interesting as well as entertaining. When I first heard "Limon y Sal," I assume that she had reached a peak. Now "MTV Unplugged" brings together her best music in a superb live performance that surpasses everything she had previously produced. Her performance throughout is tight and disciplined with charm to spare. The assembled musicians are equally tight, surpassing the studio musicians of past CD releases. While the DVD contains a few more songs than the CD version of "MTV Unplugged," it doesn't hurt to have an audio version of this great concert for the car. And, while you're at it, get a copy of another great Julieta Venegas CD, "Si." Thank you, Julieta, for making music that holds up!
Julieta Venegas [MTV Unplugged] is a Masterpiece. July 31, 2008 I had not heard much about Julieta Venegas until recently, when I saw a video of her MTV Unplugged (El Presente) performance. Boy, was I pleasantly surprised. I hardly EVER buy Latin music, much less a Latin performance on DVD. Even if you do not understand the language, Julieta's music trancends all boundaries. It is both a joy to listen to and watch the music video. I have purchased and would highly recommend the CD/DVD. Julieta Venegas' music is a breath of fresh air, contagious, and the harmonies are pitch perfect. Julieta Venegas is a talented lady indeed!
Julieta Venegas At Her Best! July 4, 2008 This dvd is a must buy for any Julieta Venegas fan! Even if you look at the list of songs and believe its just the same thing all over, think again! Because this DVD is unplugged you have Julieta experimenting with new beats, instruments, and introducing new guest artists that have influenced her musical career. The audio is amazing as well as her performance, you will enjoy this dvd.
Wonderful. June 30, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I did a decent amount of research before buying this...untimatelty from amazon. What I wanted to know was:
1. Was this 1.33:1 (full screen) or Widescreen (hopefully anamorphic)? 2. Was it stereo or surround?
I did find an answer. The wrong answer. A small number of websites (who actually had the information) said 1.33:1/stereo. Amazon even says 1.33:1. This is not 1.33:1. It is 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen. While it does have stereo on the disc it also has 5.1 Surround, both Dolby Digital and DTS. Amazing presentation.
DVD aside the preformance on the disc is awesome. It's obvious Julieta enjoys what she's doing. I've heard alot of music...I currently own hundreds of albums from all over the world and she is one of my favorites. I've heard very few artists who can time and time again deliver amazing preformances one after the other. Not only does she sing she writes songs, plays the accordion, produces, and arranges as well.
